Chillin at Tides Bar & Grill
Tides Bar and Grill
Welsh cuisine at its finest
Where?St. Davids Hotel & Spa, Havannah Street, Cardiff, CF10 5SD (029 2045 4045)
Mood?Modern chic. Like the hotel itself, Tides oozes minimalist cool and funky design. Get your glad rags on for a pre-dinner cocktail before sampling the sumptuous menu.
Who goes?Hotel guests and groups of bright, young things. The restaurant works just as well for a romantic evening out, as it does for a hen night that has bit more class than most.
The menu?Quality Welsh cuisine using only the freshest local produce is the name of the game here. The menu is interesting and exciting and the taste of what’s served lives up to your expectations ten-fold. Fish is particularly moorish – any one for hand-dived scallops? Desserts are also a must have, as is the traditional Welsh breakfast if you are lucky enough to be staying the night.
Best seat in the house?Make sure you are sitting looking out over the bay. The location of the hotel makes for stunning, panoramic views, which really adds to the experience of eating here. If the weather’s good, go alfresco and eat on the terrace overlooking the beautiful scenery.
How much? A three-course dinner will cost around £35 per person.
