But here you can find the most appropriate options to avoid dismantling the old coating and to achieve the desired changes in the interior design. This is possible even in several ways.

Most of the "warm floor" systems for effective work requires the closure of the pipe or cable contour with a cement-sand screed. It serves as the basis for the floor covering and at the same time the accumulator of thermal energy.

But with a topcoat in the form of linoleum, a full-fledged tie is required, and pouring it onto a wooden floor is a whole problem. For such cases, technologies of dry installation of the “warm floor” system were developed. Moreover, under the given conditions, there are technologies for laying both water and electric, infrared "warm floor".

Regardless of the method of heating the floor surface, the plank base requires serious preparation, especially if the floor is not new.

Conduct a thorough inspection of the entire surface of the wooden floor in order to detect the places of instability of the base - cracking, rotting, sagging lag. All suspicious places require mandatory repair, and better replacement. Treat the lags with an antiseptic impregnation in order to exclude damage by mold, rot or insects.

Check the floor for gaps and gaps between the floorboards; if possible, reassemble and reassemble them. Narrow slots close up with a special putty for wood.

If you plan to do the installation of an infrared film system "warm floor", on the basis of even minor level drops are unacceptable.Therefore, level the wooden floor using a planer or better do a complete cycling of the entire surface.

Materials and tools for installation of electric floor heating

The basic installation kit includes:

  • Film heating sheet in a roll. IR film is usually sold by the meter. You need to buy it in such a way that you can cover about 70% of the floor space. Under stationary pieces of furniture (cabinets, sofas) the canvas will not fit, since the furniture does not participate in the general process of heating the room.
  • The required number of switching wires. Purchase wires of two colors, so as not to get confused when connecting infrared sheets.
  • Crimp terminals with two jaws or rivet type to ensure contact with conductive tires of heaters.
  • The cut strips of a special insulator on a bitumen basis for isolating places of a cut of tires and places of contact connection.

In any basic installation kit includes instructions on how to assemble and connect the system.

You will also need a control unit with an adjustable thermostat, to which you must attach a temperature sensor with a signal cable.

In addition, prepare in advance:

  • Foiled insulation of foamed polyethylene with a thickness of 4-5 mm to create a thermal insulating reflective substrate. The position is purchased for the whole room, regardless of the layout area of ​​the heating films.
  • Resistant tape, except for the usual, preferably foil.
  • Plastic film with a thickness of 200 microns over the entire area of ​​the room.

Tools for installing electric floor heating:

  • construction or office knife and scissors;
  • screwdrivers for connecting wires in the thermostat unit;
  • pliers for crimping terminal contacts;
  • measuring tool;
  • marker or pencil for marking.

Decide in advance on the installation site of the thermostat unit. It is usually placed on a wall 500 mm from the floor, in an accessible place for inspection. Hide the wires to it in a neat, decorative cable channel, fixed to the wall surface.

To the place of connection of the "warm floor" in advance, draw the power line. According to the safety rules, it is necessary to allocate for this a separate wiring that is connected via an individual automat with a protective device RCD.

To connect the heating film infrared elements, they must be connected in parallel with two wires. The layout can be made on one side, or on two opposite sides.

Crimp the terminal well with pliers to secure the contact. Perform the same actions at all points of wire connection, according to the wiring diagram.

Go to the cable connection. Strip the ends of the wires laid out in accordance with the wiring diagram from insulation for 10 mm. Insert the bare wire into the cylindrical part of the terminal and press it tightly with pliers for reliable contact. Sometimes two wires will need to be crimped in one terminal at once for parallel connection of the IR-film strips.

After connecting all wires, securely insulate the contacts. In order for each connection point, take two pieces of standard bitumen insulation. Glue one of them from below, the second one is the same to meet him, from above.Crimp tightly to obtain a sealed capsule. Perform this operation on all terminals.

Go to the placement of the temperature sensor. Stick it in the chosen place with the same insulating material. Since the film coating must be completely flat, for the sensor and the terminals, in order to avoid raising the film in the foil substrate, holes are cut into which the insulating capsules must fully immerse. Similarly, channels for laying wires are cut in the same place so that they do not protrude above the general surface level.

After laying the wires, finally fix the IR film by gluing the next sheets together with adhesive tape, and the extreme ones - to the base. The channels with the wires laid also tape the top with adhesive tape.

Switch the power wires of 220 V, cables to the heating elements and the sensor, to the terminal connectors of the thermostat unit in strict accordance with the instructions for the IR panels.

After connection and thorough testing, conduct a test run of the system. If the thermostat is working, heating is felt on the film elements, de-energize the system to perform the final operations.

Lay a hard base for linoleum flooring - plywood or OSB-sheets. Under them, pre-lay a layer of plastic film, with sizing overlaps of cloths with adhesive tape. When laying sheets, be careful that the fasteners do not damage the film elements or the wiring.
