You will need
  • -seeds
  • - sieve
  • - peat pots or box
  • - peat
  • - turf
  • - sand
  • - ash
  • - manure
  • - urea
Prepare seeds for seedlings. Sift them through a fine sieve, so you get rid of the little things, leaving only high-quality seeds for planting. Pack them in a rag bag and soak in water (50 degrees) for 15 minutes, then hold for 1 minute in cold water. Treat the seeds, put them in a mineral solution for 12 hours, and then put them in a refrigerator for a day.
Prepare the soil for seedlings. Mix sand, peat and turf in the same volumes, mix thoroughly and pour into a shallow pots. The soil for planting seeds is ready. Sow the seeds to a depth of 1 centimeter.
After 35-45 days, when the seeds appear 5-7 leaves, plant them in open ground. In early May, you can do without picks, but you will get a harvest much later.
Prepare the land on which you plant the broccoli in the fall. The place should be open and sunny. Dig it and sprinkle with lime (or baking soda). In the spring, loosen the earth again, this time fertilize the earth with manure (bucket per square meter), ashes (tablespoon per well), urea (teaspoon per well). The distance between the holes in the row should be 35 centimeters, between the rows - 60.
If there is not enough space on the summer cottage, plant the seedlings together with other types of cabbage, lettuce, celery, onions, carrots and beets.
Regularly weed the bed and water it abundantly. Feed fertilizer in time. First 20 days after planting, the next time 10 days after the first feeding. Broccoli roots like oxygen, so systematically loosen it (to a depth of 8 centimeters).
To save cabbage from pests and soil oxidation, dust it with ashes. For caterpillars and aphids, use tobacco infusion. Or pour boiling water over tomato tops, let it stand for 12 hours. Spray the plants once a week and after heavy rains. It is advisable to carry out this procedure when the heads appear.
Especially broccoli likes boron. Therefore, weekly feed it with infusion of ash and boric acid (one third of a teaspoon per ten liters of water).Limit the use of nitrogen fertilizers, otherwise the leaves will grow, and the heads will not form.
Cabbage ripens in August. Collect the fruit, until the buds are not blossomed. Cutting the crop, grab part of the stem, it is also suitable for cooking.
