DIY Faux Bamboo Roman Shades Hack - Inexpensive and Easy
Decor How-to: Painted Bamboo Blinds
• Wood or bamboo Roman shade
• White spray paint
• Painter's tape
• 1/2" paintbrush
• Black paint
• Tape measure
• 1⁄2"-wide black grosgrain ribbon
• Hot-glue gun, glue sticks
1.Shade: Lay flat on newspaper. Spray one side white. Let dry. Repeat on reverse.
2.On the side of the shade that will face into the room, mark off stripes with painter's tape (ours are 6 1/2" wide). Paint areas between tape black, let dry and repeat. Carefully remove tape and let dry; mount.
3.Curtains: Lay right side up on a flat surface. Measure length and add 2"; measure and cut ribbon.
4.With 1" of ribbon extending beyond curtain top, place it 1" from inside edge and hot-glue in place, using tape measure to keep it even as you go. Fold extra ribbon over top and glue; repeat at bottom. Repeat on other curtain. Let dry; hang.
