Daphne Oz Shares the Best Food for Morning Sickness
Daphne Oz's Go-To Healthy Breakfast Will Make You Seriously Jealous
Natural food chef andDaphne Oz loves to sleep in, but with three kids, she seldom gets the chance to. The upside? Getting up (obnoxiously) early helps Daphne accomplish a ton before sunrise.
6 a.m. I'mnota morning person, but in a perfect world I'm up squeezing in a workout.
"When I first get up, I try to stream an Our Body Electric class. They're only 28 minutes and you don't need equipment, which means I can do it anywhere I can hide from the children, or even when they're climbing all over me. If I can't get a workout in, I'm not too hard on myself. I set the bar low so that if I can only do 10 minutes of stretching, I still feel good about it."
7:15 a.m., I make the kids a healthy meal.
"Breakfast is a big thing in our house. My seven month old eats Pure Spoon—organic baby food that gets delivered—while my 2 year old and 4 year old are obsessed with pancakes. I make mine with a combo of Bob’s Red Mill oats and Arrowhead Mills' grain mix whipped together with extra eggs so they're light and fluffy, plus vanilla extract and melted butter. Sometimes, to switch it up, we have what we call "Eggy Peggy." It's whole-grain toast with butter or coconut oil and two soft boiled eggs. The kids are huge fans, and they only take six minutes to make."
8 a.m. We all pile into the car and head to school.
"Before dropping the kids off, I dab some Virtue 6-in-1 styling cream on my hair and roll out with sexy messy bed head. I'm pretty terrible at doing my hair (and I'd rather take the extra time to eat breakfast or sleep an extra few minutes, tbh), so this has become my signature look. So have T-shirts (I love Project Social T!) and jeans (MOTHER or J Brand are my go-to's). I had my baby just seven months ago. With every kid, it gets harder to get back into shape and enjoy getting dressed again, so it it helps to have comfy items that still give me confidence."
9 a.m. I bang through some work.
"When I get back, I take an hour to go through emails in the morning (along with another hour later in the afternoon) to avoid feeling like I have to refresh my inbox all day. If anyone urgently needs to reach me in between then, they can always call. This new work method has changed my life because I'm not constantly distracted by needing to check my phone anymore when it's not designated "work time."
10 a.m. I take a stroll with a podcast.
"If I haven't had a chance to work out, I'll at least try to get a walk in while listening to some stories. Ilovethe Hidden Brain podcast. It's always changing my perspective on things."
10:30 a.m. I wrap up my morning by planning my family's next meal.
"As a chef, taste is key, so I want healthy food to feel indulgent—not like deprivation. I’d rather be five pounds heavier and be able to eat the food I love than get to an arbitrary goal weight.
